Australia left-arm pace bowler Mitchell Starc will not bowl for the remainder of the ongoing third Test against New Zealand in Adelaide after he suffered a stress fracture in his right foot on the first day.
Starc looked to be in discomfort while bowling during New Zealand’s first innings, but still managed to pick up three wickets as the Baggy Greens dismissed the Blackcaps for 202. However, it was during his final spell, which only lasted one over, that he decided to head to the dressing room.
Starc was taken to the hospital for scans and it was confirmed after the end of the first day that the 25-year-old had a stress fracture in the third metatarsal of his right foot.
