West Indies spinner Samuel Badree has been ruled out of the two-match Twenty20 series against Sri Lanka after contracting dengue fever.
Badree contracted the disease in the Caribbean and did not fly to Sri Lanka with Darren Sammy, Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo. As a result, Devendra Bishoo, who has not played a Twenty20 International since July 2014, has been named as Badree’s replacement.
Badree’s absence will be a major blow for the West Indies, especially as he is the top-ranked Twenty20 bowler.
The first Twenty20 International between the West Indies and Sri Lanka will be played at Pallekele on Monday.
