The fourth day of the second Test between Sri Lanka and the West Indies in Colombo was abandoned without a single ball being bowled due to persistent rain.

The West Indies had put themselves in a prime position to win the match as they were set a target of 244 to win after opening batsman Kraigg Brathwaite sliced through Sri Lanka’s batting line-up with a career-best six wickets on the third day.

However, while Brathwaite was unable to make a major contribution while batting, the West Indies ended day three on 20/1 and still require another 224 runs to win, should the fifth day go ahead.

If the West Indies manage to chase down their target, the series will end as a 1-1 draw as Sri Lanka cruised to an innings and six-run win in the first Test in Galle.
