Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq made England toil on the first day of the second Test in Dubai as he scored an unbeaten 102.

Veteran batsman Younis Khan and opener Shan Masood supported ul-Haq brilliantly as they scored 56 and 54 respectively.

After ul-Haq opted to bat first, Pakistan got off to a solid start as Masood and Mohammad Hafeez amassed a 51-run partnership before Hafeez was caught by Jonny Bairstow at short leg off the bowling of Moeen Ali for 19.

Shoaib Malik departed soon after for just two runs as he was also caught by Bairstow at short leg, but only off the bowling of Ben Stokes.

Masood was the next to go as he was caught behind off the bowling of James Anderson for 54 off 87 balls, which included seven boundaries and a six.
