India opener Murali Vijay and wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha will miss the third and final Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo as they are both nursing hamstring injuries.
Vijay missed the first Test in Galle due to a hamstring injury, but played in the second Test, where he made scores of 0 and 82. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed that Vijay “sustained mild re-occurrence on his pre-existing injury in his right hamstring and would need further strength training to recover completely”.
Saha meanwhile picked up his injury while batting on the fourth day of the second Test and had to retire hurt. However, he did return later on and was unbeaten on 13 when captain Virat Kohli decided to declare.
It has been confirmed that uncapped wicketkeeper-batsman Naman Ojha will come in for Saha, while uncapped batsman Karun Nair will replace Vijay.
India and Sri Lanka are tied at 1-1 heading into the third and final Test, which will begin on Friday.
