Bangladesh pace bowler Mustafizur Rahman cannot do anything wrong at the moment as he claimed four wickets on debut to help his side slice through South Africa’s batting line-up.

Rahman received some excellent support from leg-spinner Jubair Hossain, who took three wickets.

However, South Africa batsman Temba Bavuma deserves some credit for his gutsy knock of 54.

South Africa captain Hashim Amla would have been delighted with his decision to bat first early on as Dean Elgar and Stiaan van Zyl amassed a 58-run partnership before van Zyl was caught behind off the bowling of Mahmudullah for 34.

Elgar and Faf du Plessis kept the runs flowing with a 78-run stand before Elgar was caught behind off the bowling of Taijul Islam for 47.

Du Plessis went on to make 48 runs before he was given out lbw off the bowling of Shakib Al Hasan.

It was at this point where Rahman and Hossain took over and ripped through the Proteas’ middle and lower order.

Other than Bavuma, who hit five boundaries during his knock of 54, none of the other batsmen put up much of a fight, which resulted in South Africa going from 136/3 to being bowled out for 248.

Trailing by 248, Bangladesh managed to make seven runs before stumps was called.

Bangladesh ended day one on 7/0 and will continue batting tomorrow at 10:00 local time or 04:00 GMT.
