Guyana Amazon Warriors spinner Sunil Narine took three wickets and captain Denesh Ramdin scored 39 runs to help their side skirt past the St Lucia Zouks by three wickets in a low-scoring affair.

Ramdin would have been delighted with his decision to bowl first as Narine and the rest of the Amazon Warriors’ bowling attack restricted the Zouks to 111/7 off their 20 overs.

Henry Davids was the Zouks’ top-scorer with an unbeaten 25, while stand-in captain Kevin Pietersen made 24.

Narine was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets, while David Wiese snapped up two and Marchant de Lange and Brad Hodge chipped in with one wicket apiece.

Chasing 112 to win, the Amazon Warriors were given a major scare when Keron Cottoy ripped through their top and middle order with four quick wickets before Wiese and Narine were both run out by substitute fielder Keddy Lesporis.

However, had it not been for Lendl Simmons’ 31 and Ramdin’s unbeaten knock of 39, the Amazon Warriors wouldn’t have recovered from their major collapse and won the game with 12 balls to spare.

Cotty was easily the most successful bowler with four wickets, while Delorn Johnson claimed one.

Narine was named Man of the Match.
