Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel captain Dwayne Bravo claimed four wickets as his side defeated the Guyana Amazon Warriors by three wickets in a thrilling showdown in St Kitts.

Amazon Warriors captain Denesh Ramdin would have been regretting his decision to bat first as opener Lendl Simmons was the only batsman to make a valuable contribution with 50 runs, which came off 48 balls and included three boundaries and two sixes.

Since only two other batsmen were able to make it to double figures, the Amazon Warriors were bowled out for 118.

Bravo was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets, while Jacques Kallis and Kevon Cooper snapped up two wickets apiece and Samuel Badree chipped in with one.

Chasing 119 to win, many of the Red Steels’ top order batsmen got off to encouraging starts before throwing their wickets away.

With that being the theme throughout the innings, the Red Steel were left needing five runs to win off the last over.

With Devendra Bishoo only conceding three runs off the first four balls, he made a grievous mistake on the penultimate ball of the match by bowling a no-ball. To add insult to injury, Cooper smashed a huge six over long-on to seal the deal for the Red Steel.

However, despite Bishoo’s blunder at the end, he was the most successful bowler with four wickets, while Veerasammy Permaul, Sunil Narine and Tillakaratne Dilshan claimed one wicket each.

Bravo was named Man of the Match.
