Nathan Lyon has surpassed Hugh Trumble to become Australia’s most successful off-spinner in Test history.
Lyon, who made his Test debut in 2011, accomplished the feat when he took his 142nd wicket during the second day of the second Test against the West Indies in Jamaica.
Trumble’s record had stood for 111 years, but Lyon broke it on Friday when he clean bowled West Indies opener Kraigg Brathwaite for four runs in the first innings.
Lyon ended up taking three wickets at the end of the second day, where the West Indies found themselves in all sorts of trouble at 143/8 after Australia made 399 in their first innings.
