Murali Vijay scored 150 and batsman Ajinkya Rahane made 98 as India continued to punish Bangladesh despite constant rain interruptions on the third day of the one-off Test in Fatullah.

With the second day having been abandoned due to persistent rain, India started off the day on 239/0.

Vijay and his opening partner Shikhar Dhawan added 44 runs to their 239-run partnership, during which Vijay brought up his sixth Test century, before Dhawan was caught and bowled by Shakib Al Hasan.

Dhawan’s fabulous knock of 173 came off 195 balls and included 23 boundaries.

Rohit Sharma only made six runs before he was clean bowled by Al Hasan.

India captain Virat Kohli fared no better as he was cleaned up by Jubair Hossain for 14.

Vijay and Rahane stemmed the bleeding with a 114-run partnership, during which Vijay registered his 150 and Rahane his half-century, before Vijay was given out lbw off the bowling of Al Hasan.

However, replays showed that Vijay should not have been given out as the ball was pitching outside the line of off-stump.

Vijay’s magnificent innings of 150 came off 272 deliveries and included 12 boundaries and a six.

Wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha mustered six runs before he was clean bowled by Hossain.

Rahane ended up making 98 off 103 balls, which included 14 boundaries, before he was cleaned up by Al Hasan.
