Tamim Iqbal and Imrul Kayes launched an incredible comeback against Pakistan by amassing the highest partnership for Bangladesh in Test history during the fourth day of the first Test in Khulna.

Starting out the day on 537/5, Pakistan’s middle and lower order collapsed as they were bowled out for 628, which gave them a 296-run lead.

Taijul Islam inflicted the most damage as he took six wickets, while Shuvagata Hom snapped up two and debutant Mohammad Shahid and Shakib Al Hasan chipped in with one wicket apiece.

Trailing by 296, Bangladesh got off to a phenomenal start as Iqbal and Kayes put together an unbeaten 273-run partnership, during which both batsmen brought up their centuries, before stumps was called.

Iqbal finished on 138 off 183 balls, which included 13 boundaries and four sixes, while Kayes remained undefeated on a career-best 132 off 185 deliveries, which included 15 boundaries and three sixes.

Bangladesh ended day four on 273/0 and will continue batting tomorrow at 10:00 local time or 04:00 GMT.
