Zimbabwe captain Elton Chigumbura had to be helped off the field in the 24th over of his side’s match against Pakistan with, what could be, a torn quadricep.
Chigumbura will try and bat if the team need him to and will undergo a scan on Monday to assess how serious the injury is.
Chigumbura sustained the injury when chasing a ball that was hit past him at mid-off by Pakistan skipper Misbah-ul-Haq. In the process of trying to stop the ball from going over the boundary rope, Chigumbura dived and landed awkwardly on his left knee.
Since the Zimbabwe captain appeared to be in severe pain, a stretcher was called for, but he managed to walk off the field with the help of a few members of the team management.
