Mumbai batsman Abhishek Nayar is in stable condition after suffering a head injury while fielding during a Ranji Trophy semi-final match against defending champions Karnataka.
Nayar lost balance when trying to throw the ball at the stumps off his own bowling and ended up hitting his head on the turf. He was rushed to a hospital in Bangalore after becoming unconscious.
“Nayar had lost consciousness for some time and then failed to recognise people after hurting his head,” Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) Joint Secretary Nitin Dalal said. “He was taken to the hospital and CT scan was done which cleared him.
“He is out of danger now but has been kept under observation for a day.”
