Zimbabwe pace bowler Tendai Chatara has been reprimanded by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for bowling two dangerous deliveries in a row to West Indies opener Chris Gayle.
The incident occurred in the 50th over of the match when Chatara bowled a high full toss straight at Gayle and was given a warning by the umpire. However, he proceeded to bowl the exact same delivery the very next ball and was not allowed to continue bowling.
“In determining the sanction, I took into account the mitigating factor of the wet ball which could have resulted in the bowler not being able to have complete control of the deliveries,” match referee Roshan Mahanama said.
