Zimbabwe pace bowler Tendai Chatara has been reprimanded by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for bowling two dangerous deliveries in a row to West Indies opener Chris Gayle.

The incident occurred in the 50th over of the match when Chatara bowled a high full toss straight at Gayle and was given a warning by the umpire. However, he proceeded to bowl the exact same delivery the very next ball and was not allowed to continue bowling.

“In determining the sanction, I took into account the mitigating factor of the wet ball which could have resulted in the bowler not being able to have complete control of the deliveries,”¬†match referee Roshan Mahanama said.
