Former England batsman Kevin Pietersen will join the BBC commentary team during the knockout stages of the World Cup.

Pietersen will link up with the Test Match Special team in March to commentate alongside his former England team-mate Graeme Swann.

Pietersen has done commentary stints in the past as he covered the 2012 World Twenty20 with ESPN Star Sports and the recently concluded Big Bash League (BBL) with Channel Ten.

“I’m really looking forward to working with the Test Match Special team at the World Cup,” Pietersen said. “I really enjoyed having a go at some commentary during the Big Bash and it will be good to return to Australia for the climax of what should be a really exciting tournament.”
