“The court has granted him bail until the end of the World Cup”

Bangladesh pace bowler Rubel Hossain will play in the World Cup after he was granted bail by a Dhaka court.

Hossain was initially refused bail after he was accused of raping and lying about his intent to marry 19-year-old actress Naznin Akter Happy.

“The court has granted him bail until the end of the World Cup,” Hossain’s lawyer Moniruzzaman Asad told AFP.

Akram Khan, who is the head of operations at the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), is relieved that the situation has been temporarily resolved.

“His tension is now over,” Khan said. “He can practice with the World Cup squad from tomorrow.”
