The Sydney Sixers produced a scintillating all-round performance to crush the Brisbane Heat by six wickets.

Sixers captain Moises Henriques would have been thrilled with his decision to bowl first since the Heat lost their top four batsmen for 33 runs.

Former England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff and Peter Forrest stemmed the bleeding with a 93-run partnership, during which Forrest brought up his half-century, before Flintoff was caught by Simon Keen at cover off the bowling of Henriques.

Flintoff’s entertaining knock of 46 came off 32 balls and included four boundaries and a six.

Ben Cutting mustered 11 runs before he was run out by Brett Lee.

Thanks to Forrest’s unbeaten knock of 62, which came off 56 balls and included four boundaries and a six, the Heat finished on 147/6 off their 20 overs.

Lee and Henriques picked up two wickets apiece, while Doug Bollinger chipped in with one.

Chasing 148 to win, the Sixers got off to a poor start as opening batsman Nic Maddinson was caught by Cutting at mid-off off the bowling of Cameron Gannon for 15.

Riki Wessels and Michael Lumb made up for the early loss of Maddinson with a 53-run partnership before Wessels was the victim of a brilliant catch by wicketkeeper Jimmy Peirson off the bowling of Heat captain James Hopes for 28.

Lumb went on to score 25 runs before he was caught by Ryan Duffield at fine leg off the bowling of Daniel Christian.

Henriques made 18 runs before he was clean bowled by Hopes.

Ryan Carters and Jordan Silk amassed an unbeaten 57-run partnership to carry the Sixers across the finish line with 14 balls to spare.

Carters scored 30 off 21 balls, which included three boundaries and a six, while Silk remained undefeated on 29 off 23 deliveries, which included four boundaries.

Hopes was the most successful bowler with two wickets, while Christian and Gannon claimed one wicket each.

Interestingly enough, Bollinger was named Man of the Match.
