Perth Scorchers captain Adam Voges smashed a half-century to hand the Adelaide Strikers their first loss of the 2014/15 Big Bash League (BBL).

Strikers captain Johan Bohta would have been pleased with his decision to bowl first after Scorchers opener Marcus Harris was caught by Adam Zampa at point off the bowling of Ben Laughlin for nine runs.

Michael Klinger managed to make 21 runs before he was caught by Botha at extra cover off the bowling of Zampa.

Zampa struck again just four balls later when Michael Carberry was caught behind for 11 runs.

Ashton Agar failed to trouble the scorers as he was clean bowled by Shaun Tait for a duck.

Sam Whiteman mustered two runs before he was cleaned up by Laughlin.

Ashton Turner made 11 runs before he was caught behind off the bowling of Tait.

Thanks to Voges’ unbeaten knock of 54, which came off 36 balls and included six boundaries, the Scorchers finished on 133/6 off their 20 overs.

Laughlin, Zampa and Tait picked up two wickets apiece.

Chasing 134 to win, the Strikers got off to a solid start before Tim Ludeman was cleaned up by Jason Behrendorff for 22.

Following Ludeman’s dismissal, the Strikers’ top, middle and lower order absolutely collapsed.

To add insult to injury, Ludeman was the Strikers’ top-scorer as none of the other batsmen even passed the 20-run mark.

Agar, Brad Hogg, Andrew Tye and Yasir Arafat snapped up two wickets each, while Behrendorff claimed one.

Voges was named Man of the Match for his brilliant knock of 54.
