South Africa were set a target of 124 to win after the West Indies’ middle and lower order collapsed on the fourth day of the third Test in Cape Town.
Following a lengthy rain delay, West Indies batsman Leon Johnson and all-rounder Marlon Samuels only added seven runs to their 61-run partnership before Johnson was caught by South Africa captain Hashim Amla at slip off the bowling of Morne Morkel for 44.
Samuels and Shivnarine Chanderpaul stabilised the innings with an 87-run partnership, during which Samuels brought up his half-century, before he was caught by Dean Elgar at mid-on off the bowling of debutant Simon Harmer.
Samuels’ excellent knock of 74 came off 150 balls and included nine boundaries and two sixes.

Harmer struck again just two balls later when Jerome Taylor was caught by Elgar at deep midwicket for a duck.
Sulieman Benn did not get off the mark as well as he was caught behind off the bowling of Steyn for a duck.
The West Indies were bowled out for 215, which set South Africa a target of 124 to win, when Chanderpaul was run out by Temba Bavuma for 50 off 113 balls, which included five boundaries.
Harmer was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets, while Steyn snapped up three and Morkel chipped in with two.

Chasing 124 to win, South Africa got off to a horrible start as opening batsman Alviro Petersen was clean bowled by Benn for a duck.
Following Petersen’s dismissal, the umpires decided to bring play to an end for the day.
Benn was the only bowler to take a wicket.
South Africa ended day four on 9/1 and will continue batting tomorrow at 10:30 local time or 08:30 GMT.
