Despite being under investigation for allegations of sexual misconduct, Sri Lanka have retained the officials in charge of the country’s women’s team for the their upcoming tour of the United Arab Emirates.

Since the officials have yet to be proven guilty, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) secretary Nishantha Ranatunga believes there is no reason why they should be sacked or suspended.

According to local media reports, members of Sri Lanka’s women’s team were forced to perform sexual favours for officials in order to retain their spot in the side.

A preliminary inquiry, which was carried out by a one-person committee, has received evidence from numerous players about three officials who were involved in the alleged acts.

As a result of this, SLC have handed over the reports to the sports ministry since the country’s sports minister will be appointing a three-member committee to launch a full investigation into these allegations.

Speaking about the investigation, Ranatunga told the Sri Lanka-based Daily Mirror: “Once the final report comes in, the Ex-Co will decide the next course of action.”
