Australia pace bowler Ryan Harris believes that all-rounder Steven Smith should lead the Baggy Greens in all three formats of the game.
Harris’ comments come after Smith led Australia to a four-wicket win over India in Brisbane on his debut as Test captain.
“There’s no doubt I can see him as captain in all forms,” Harris told Fox Sports. “We will see what happens, there is obviously a big (2015) World Cup coming up.
“George Bailey’s done it (ODI role) in the absence of Michael Clarke and I think he has done a pretty good job. But with Steve Smith heading that way it might be a good idea to give it to him.”
Harris also revealed that he has a “90 per cent” chance of playing in the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne. Harris missed the second Test in Brisbane due to a quadriceps strain.
“It’s going well. It was just a slight strain there,” he said. “There’s no pain there – it’s all looking up. I am pretty keen to get back out there and play – I am frustrated watching.”
