India opener Murali Vijay believes he “did pretty well today” after he scored a spectacular 144 against Australia on the first day of the second Test in Brisbane.
However, Vijay did have some luck along with the way as he was dropped by Australia batsman Shaun Marsh on 36 and 102.
“Today was testing for us all,” Vijay said. “But thinking as a batsman, I could see a lot of bowlers sulking out there because it was really hot.
“The [post-tea] session was really important for us as a lot of people on their team were getting tired. I wanted to wait until that time and make use of it.
“You can only go [so] close to perfection, but I think I did pretty well today. It was mentally challenging but when you are playing for your country you’ve got to do your stuff to the best of your ability.”
