India are to blame for Ajmal and Hafeez being banned from bowling, says Zaka Ashraf

Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Zaka Ashraf believes that India conspired to get spinner Saeed Ajmal and all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez banned from bowling.

Ashraf also noted that the PCB are making a grave mistake by sending both bowlers to get their actions tested at Sri Ramachandra University in Chennai.

“Sending them to Chennai will serve no purpose because I feel it is India which has lobbied behind the scenes to get Saeed and Hafeez suspended from bowling in international cricket,” Ashraf said. “I believe it is India [who] has used its influence to try to keep Hafeez and Ajmal out of the World Cup. I would rather they are sent to Australia for the ICC bowling action tests.

“Sending either Hafeez or Saeed to India is akin to sending someone into a hungry Lion’s cage and then hoping he will return without any harm.”
