Zimbabwe all-rounder Sean Williams was not considered for selection for the tour of Bangladesh after he allegedly got involved in a heated dispute with head coach Stephen Mangongo.
It is understood that Williams was not included in the national team after he left midway through Zimbabwe’s training camp and threatened to quit since Mangongo wanted to find out why he left via a disciplinary hearing.
According to the Herald, which is a Harare-based daily, Williams had asked for family-responsibility leave just three days before the players were set to travel to Masvingo for a practice match.
Despite asking for family-responsibility leave, Mangongo still wanted Williams to travel to Masvingo for the practice match. But, Williams threatened to quit after Mangongo wanted to have a disciplinary hearing in order to find out why he missed a majority of the training camp.
However, it was reported that Williams later apologised to Mangongo for his outburst.
“We can’t have special conditions for one player and Sean is not in the team because he was not there when his team-mates were putting a lot of hours and days to prepare for the tour,” Zimbabwe’s convener of selectors Givemore Makoni told the Herald.
