Pakistan left-arm pace bowler Wahab Riaz has been ruled out of the upcoming Test series against Australia after he injured his left knee during the second ODI against the Baggy GreensĀ in Dubai.

Riaz, who recently returned home, was sent for an MRI scan after the match and it was revealed that there was “significant bone damage and damage to the cartilage under the knee cap and suspicion of a tear”.

“Wahab felt that his foot got stuck at the crease and he hyperextended his left knee,” a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) release said. “He was unable to continue in the match.

“The MRI report reveals significant bone damage and damage to the cartilage under the knee cap and suspicion of a tear. The joint is also mildly swollen.

“Riaz has been advised to undergo a two-three week rest/rehab period before considering a return to impact and bowling.”
