Matthew Maynard, who was recently appointed as Somerset’s director of cricket, has agreed to help Scotland during a batting camp that will be held at the International Cricket Council (ICC) Academy in Dubai from November 11 to 20.

The move to bring in Maynard comes as Scotland prepare for the 2015 World Cup, in which their opening match will be against New Zealand in Dunedin on February 17.

“We’re delighted to welcome Matt to the Scotland set-up for the batting camp at the ICC Academy in Dubai,” Scotland head coach Grant Bradburn said. “With his excellent track record it’s a great opportunity for the players to work on different aspects of their batting, furthering the learning process of what we have gained during our current tour to Australia and New Zealand.”
