Daniel Vettori has been included in the 12-man New Zealand XI squad that will play a one-day match against Scotland on October 15.
The all-rounder has not played international cricket for 16 months, with his last match for New Zealand coming against England during the Champions Trophy in June 2013.
Due to the numerous injuries he has been battling over the past year, Vettori decided against accepting a central contract and has only played in domestic Twenty20 tournaments this year.
While Vettori admitted that it was almost impossible for him to play Test cricket again, he conceded that he still determined to represent his country in the 2015 World Cup.
