The Kolkata Knight Riders will be without Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan for the upcoming Champions League Twenty20 (CLT20) since the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will not grant him any No Objection Certificates until the end of 2015.
This punishment comes after Al Hasan was banned for six months in July. However his ban was recently reduced by three-and-a-half months, which means that he will be available for selection from September 15 onwards.
“Clearly for Champions League Twenty20 he is not available to us,” Kolkata Knight Riders chief executive Venky Mysore said. “Although we have the options it is unfortunate considering he is an important player for us. We just have to respect the BCB’s decision.”
Al Hasan played a crucial role in helping Kolkata win the 2014 Indian Premier League (IPL) as he scored 227 runs and took 11 wickets.
