Sri Lanka pace bowler Nuwan Pradeep has been ruled out for the remainder of the Test series against Pakistan due to an ankle injury.
Pradeep twisted his ankle while fielding during a training session and will subsequently miss the second Test in Colombo.
“Nuwan twisted his right ankle while fielding at practice and had to be helped off the field,” Sri Lanka manager Michael de Zoysa said. “He is unable to put his foot down.
“He has gone back to Colombo for a scan but it is unlikely that he will take any further part in the series. Most likely he will be out for at least two to three weeks.”
Pradeep’s injury is another big blow for Sri Lanka since they recently lost pace bowler Suranga Lakmal to an ankle injury as well.
De Zoysa confirmed that replacements will be named for Pradeep and Lakmal.
“We will certainly need replacements for the two injured players before the start of the second Test,” de Zoysa said.
