South Africa all-rounder Jacques Kallis’ Big Bash League (BBL) stint is likely to be curtailed to an ODI series against the West Indies early next year.

Kallis was recently signed by the Sydney Thunder on a two-year deal, but his agent Dave Rundle confirmed that the 38-year-old will return home from Sydney early next year.

South Africa are set to play five ODIs against the West Indies between January 16 and 28, which will clash with the BBL’s schedule.

“He wants to play as many ODIs as he can in the lead-up to the World Cup, especially because he doesn’t just want to be one of those players that’s just in the team,” Rundle said. “He really wants to contribute to South Africa winning.”
