Flamboyant England opener Alex Hales has agreed to join the Hobart Hurricanes for the 2014-15 season of the Big Bash League (BBL).

This will be Hales’ third BBL franchise after he represented the Melbourne Renegades in the 2012-13 season and the Adelaide Strikers last season.

Hales has played 32 Twenty20 Internationals for England and scored 1,022 runs at a brilliant average of 37.85. He has also scored one century and seven half-centuries in the format. His career-best knock of 116 not out came against Sri Lanka during the 2014 World Twenty20 in Bangladesh.

“Alex is a fantastic addition to our squad for this season and our members and supporters will no doubt be thrilled to see him put on the purple,” Hurricanes head coach Damien Wright said.
