Pakistan pace bowler Umar Gul has revealed that he is “training harder” than the other members of the national team since he is determined to play in the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka in July.

Gul underwent knee surgery last year and subsequently missed the Champions Trophy and Pakistan’s Test series against Zimbabwe, South Africa and Sri Lanka.

“It’s difficult to make a comeback after surgery but I am training harder than others so that I could be as fit as I was before the operation,” Gul said. “There’s no international series before July so it’s an ideal time to get some tough training and prepare for the future series.”

When asked if he would be fully fit in time for the series against Sri Lanka, Gul said: “It all depends on how fit I am for Test matches. I will decide later whether I [should] compete in Test matches or not.”
