“Absolutely gutted to be leaving the World Cup injured”
England batsman Luke Wright has been ruled out for the entire World Twenty20 after sustaining a side strain.
Wright has been hampered by the injury for some time now, but he was officially ruled out on the morning of England’s first game against New Zealand on March 22.
“Absolutely gutted to be leaving the World Cup injured,” Wright said via Twitter. “Hard to take but silver lining is I will now be at the birth of my second child.”
Wright has been replaced by Craig Kieswetter.
