“They have a very good chance of getting to the semi-finals”
South Africa Twenty20 captain Faf du Plessis has announced that he believes Australia are the team to beat in the upcoming World Twenty20 in Bangladesh.
Du Plessis’ comments come after Australia defeated South Africa 2-0 in their recently concluded Twenty20 series.
“They’ve got a powerhouse batting attack,” du Plessis said. “Every one of their top seven or eight can take the game away from you.
“That makes them very dangerous. They’ve also good quality fast bowling. They didn’t give us anything to hit in the first six overs. They have a very good chance of getting to the semi-finals.”
However, du Plessis was also confident about South Africa’s chances of doing well in the tournament, given the success they have had in the sub-continent.
“We’ve had good success in the sub-continent and we’ve got two warm-up games before the tournament,” he said. “But we need to play our best cricket if we are to do well.”
