Iqbal is expected to be fully fit by the time the World Twenty20 gets underway
Bangladesh opening batsman Tamim Iqbal will miss the upcoming Asia Cup, which gets underway on February 25, due to a neck strain.
The national selectors decided to allow Iqbal to rest and recuperate so that he will be fully fit by the time the World Twenty20 begins next month.
The selectors have also decided to drop all-rounder Mahmudullah due to his poor run of form as of late and include Ziaur Rahman and Imrul Kayes.
All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who was banned for three ODIs, will rejoin the Bangladesh squad when they take on Pakistan on March 4 in Mirpur.
