It is still unclear whether Watson will be able to bowl
Australia all-rounder Shane Watson sustained a right groin injury while bowling on the opening day of the Boxing Day Test against England in Melbourne.
The incident occurred in Watson’s seventh over of the match when he pulled up just before completing his fifth ball of the over.
Watson looked to be in some pain and, after a short chat with captain Michael Clarke, he was off the field immediately.
After a while, Cricket Australia tweeted: “Shane Watson has some right groin pain and is currently being assessed by the medical staff on when he can return to the field.”
Watson returned to the field during the final session of the day, but it still remains unclear whether he will be able to bowl or just how serious his injury is.
