Pakistan opening batsman Ahmed Shehzad has been fined 50 per cent of his match fee after shoulder-barging Sri Lanka opener Tillakaratne Dilshan during the third ODI in Sharjah.

The incident occurred in the 19th over of Sri Lanka’s innings when Shehzad and Dilshan got involved in a heated dispute, which ended with the Pakistani batsman using his shoulder to shove Dilshan aside.

“The opener was found to have breached Article 2.2.4 of the ICC code of conduct for players and player support personnel, which relates to ‘inappropriate and deliberate physical contact between Players in the course of play during an international match’,” an International Cricket Council (ICC) statement said.

Shehzad pleaded guilty to the charges brought against him by umpires Johan Cloete and Shozab Raza, third umpire Richard Illingworth and fourth umpire Ahsan Raza.
