Tikolo will be Kenya’s head coach until further notice
Kenya have appointed former captain Steve Tikolo as their interim coach after Robin Brown tendered his resignation following the country’s failure to qualify for the 2014 World Twenty20 in Bangladesh.
Collins Obuya also stepped down as captain and Rakep Patel has been chosen to take over the prestigious position.
Cricket Kenya administrative officer David Pamba told AFP: “Obuya has opted to step down as the team captain but will continue to offer his services as a player. Young batsman Rakep Patel has been named the new captain, as Kenya seeks to rebuild the team for the future.”
Kenya also failed to secure a spot for the 2015 International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup in Australia and New Zealand after they were beaten by Afghanistan in the World Cricket League.
However, they have a second chance to qualify for the tournament in next month’s qualifiers in New Zealand.
