Steyn was fined 10 per cent of his match fee

South Africa pace spearhead Dale Steyn has been fined 10 per cent of his match fee for using foul language during the Proteas’ six-run loss in the second and final Twenty20 International against Pakistan in Cape Town.

The incident occurred at the end of Steyn’s second over.

Steyn was charged under Article 2.1.4 of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Code of Conduct, which relates to “using language or a gesture that is obscene, offensive or insulting during an international match”.

Match referee Andy Pycroft brought the charge against Steyn, who accepted it, meaning that there will be no need for a formal hearing to take place.
