Prior likely to be fit for first Ashes Test

England vice-captain and wicketkeeper Matt Prior is likely to play in the first Ashes Test in Brisbane after coming through unscathed in his second intense workout in two days.

England have been holding their breath ever since Prior tore his left calf muscle during the national team’s four-day warm-up game against Australia A in Hobart.

When asked how he felt after completing his workout, Prior said: “So far so good. I haven’t felt any twinges and I’ve done a full workout.

“In fact the rest of my body feels worse than the leg which has had so much TLC over the last few days.”
