England batting coach Graham Gooch has announced that he is expecting to see some big hundreds from the English batsmen throughout the upcoming Ashes series, which gets underway on November 21 in Brisbane.

Gooch added that he would love to see Kevin Pietersen, Ian Bell and captain Alastair Cook break his record for the most Test runs scored by an England batsman.

Gooch scored 8,900 Test runs during his illustrious career, while Pietersen has amassed 7,887 Test runs, Bell has accumulated 6,487 runs and Cook has compiled 7,801 runs.

“In my position I would like to think that they’d be several guys who would pass that (record) because if they do then they’d be doing good things for England,” Gooch told Sky Sports. “My motivation always, having the honour of being involved in the England team, is to help them win cricket matches.

“So, Pietersen and Cook are getting close and I hope they go past my record, and Bell’s not that far away either.

“So if they all do well and do that, that’d be good for English cricket.”
