Irfan sustained a suspected hip injury yesterday

Pakistan pace bowler Mohammad Irfan has been ruled out of the national team’s upcoming limited overs tour of South Africa after sustaining a suspected hip injury during the second Twenty20 International against the Proteas in Dubai yesterday.

In the recently concluded series against South Africa in the United Arab Emirates, Irfan picked up seven wickets in the two-Test series at an average of 26.85 and nine wickets in the five-match ODI series at an average of 26.33.

He failed to take any wickets in the two-match Twenty20 series.

Pace bowler Wahab Riaz has also been dropped for the upcoming tour of South Africa after going wicketless in the three ODIs he played against the Proteas.

Newcomer Bilawal Bhatti and fast bowler Anwar Ali have been drafted in as replacements for Irfan and Riaz.
