Ashwin has a 43-point lead atop the Test all-rounders rankings
India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has made his debut atop the International Cricket Council (ICC) Test all-rounders rankings after smashing a career-best 124 and picking up five wickets in the first Test against the West Indies in Kolkata.
Ashwin dethroned Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and now leads him by 43 points.
South Africa veteran all-rounder Jacques Kallis remains in third place.
Ashwin was also involved in a 280-run partnership with Rohit Sharma, which is now the highest seventh-wicket partnership for India in Test matches.
The 27-year-old also became the first Indian cricketer to score a century and take five wickets in a Test match on two separate occasions.
His spectacular innings of 124 rocketed him up 18 places to the 45th spot on the ICC Test Batsmen rankings.
He also climbed to sixth place on the ICC Test Bowlers rankings, where he is the only Indian in the top 10.
