“I’ve obviously had a knee issue so I’ve just got to make sure my rehab continues or else I could break down and I don’t want to break down”

England batsman Kevin Pietersen had announced that he is working hard on ensuring his lingering knee problems become a thing of the past as he is determined to be fully fit for all five Tests in the upcoming Ashes series against arch-rivals Australia, which gets underway on November 21 in Brisbane.

Pietersen suffered a badly bruised knee bone during England’s tour of New Zealand in February and it subsequently led to him being forced to miss his beloved Indian Premier League (IPL) and the last ever Champions Trophy.

He also refused to undergo surgery in favour of an intensive rehabilitation programme, which he says has been working.

“I’m just working on my legs, trying to make sure my legs hold up,” he said. “I’ve obviously had a knee issue so I’ve just got to make sure my rehab continues or else I could break down and I don’t want to break down.

“I want to play the whole series, an exciting series.”
