Watson will undergo further tests in order to assess how serious his injury is
The entire Australia team will be sweating and desperate to find out just how serious all-rounder Shane Watson’s hamstring injury is after he pulled up when running in to deliver the first ball of his sixth over in the final ODI against India in Bangalore.
Despite immediately leaving the field, Watson did return to bat and ended up smashing 49 runs off 22 balls, which included two boundaries and an incredible six maximums.
A Cricket Australia spokesman revealed that Watson had complained of “hamstring tightness”.
Watson will now undergo further tests to reveal the seriousness of the injury.
The all-rounder’s injury couldn’t have come at a worse time as the first Ashes series against arch-rivals England looms over the horizon.
The first Ashes Test between Australia and England will get underway on November 21 in Brisbane.
