Eranga will not feature in the first two ODIs
Sri Lanka pace bowler Shaminda Eranga has been ousted from the national team for the first two ODIs against New Zealand later this month.
Eranga has been quite effective in ODIs this year, averaging 27.93 in 13 matches.
However, he cannot find a spot for himself on the roster when the pace trio of Lasith Malinga, Nuwan Kulasekara and Thisara Perera are fit and in form.
Meanwhile, opening batsman Dimuth Karunaratne, who played his last ODI in 2011, has been included in the 16-man squad, along with newcomer Ashan Priyanjan, who is a middle order batsman.
During Sri Lanka A’s recent three-match series against New Zealand A, Karunaratne scored 271 runs at a sensational average of 90.33, while Priyanjan maintained a respectable average of 44.
Sri Lanka’s limited overs series against New Zealand will comprise of three ODIs, two of which will be played in Hambantota and the final one in Dambulla, and two Twenty20 Internationals, both of which will be held in Pallekele.
