“Our priority is to complete this important World T20 venue ahead of the deadline given by the ICC”

New Zealand and Bangladesh’s one-off Twenty20 International on November 6 will be moved from Sylhet to Mirpur since construction is still going on at the Sylhet Stadium.

The change was announced due to the fact that the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have until November 30 to fully develop the pavilion, media centre and the scenic hill at Sylhet Stadium.

While the pavilion is pretty much completed, there is still some work to do on the media centre and scenic hill.

“Our priority is to complete this important World T20 venue ahead of the deadline given by the ICC,” BCB’s acting CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury said. “Therefore we felt that to ensure uninterrupted work at the stadia in Sylhet, it was best to hold the Bangladesh-New Zealand match elsewhere.”
