Dravid is confident all four senior players will regain their respective spots in the national team
India batting great Rahul Dravid believes that pace bowler Zaheer Khan, all-rounder Yuvraj Singh and the opening duo of Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag will all be bearing the India logo on their chests in no time at all, despite their recent struggles.
Sehwag, Gambhir and Khan are all representing India A at the moment, while Singh finally regained his spot in the national team after being named in the limited overs squad that would take on Australia later this month.
“It is a good chance for them to get back into the national team,” Dravid said. “They have the advantage from others because they have played at the international stage earlier. It’s like I have done well at that level and so I can get back there.
“All of them Sehwag, Zaheer, Gambhir and Yuvraj are trying hard at every opportunity they are getting. Gambhir is playing county cricket and I hope Sehwag, Zaheer and Yuvraj get some pre-season games and they do well and push the selectors (to pick them in the national team).”
Dravid also took the opportunity to talk about the Decision Review System (DRS), which he feels could be a lot better if the technology was updated.
“You can better in every aspect of life if you try,” he said. “So I think DRS also can get better. It’s more of a hit and trial and you can try and improve upon the system.
“If you keep on improving the technology, say improvement in technology in the TV camera and more number of frames per second, I guess the system can improve.”
