Bradman’s bat sold for well above its estimated price of AUD $20,000
A bat signed by the one and only Sir Donald Bradman and the rest of his “Invincible” team-mates has sold for AUD $61,000 (USD $65,000) at an auction in Melbourne.
Bradman used the bat to score 115 in his last first-class match in Australia before travelling to England with the rest of the national team in 1948.
According to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), the bat sold well above its estimated price of AUD $20,000.
Prior to the auction, which was held by Leski Auctions, the bat spent 20 years on display at the Western Australian Cricket Association (WACA).
Bradman, who died at the age of 92 in 2001, is renowned for his unbelievable Test average of 99.94 and getting out for a duck in his final innings.
