Malinga is the latest Sri Lankan player to join the tournament

Sri Lanka pace spearhead Lasith Malinga has signed with the Guyana Amazon Warriors for the remainder of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and will replace Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez, who has left to join up with the national team in Zimbabwe.

Malinga is the third Sri Lankan in the tournament now after former spinner Muttiah Muralitharan, who is currently representing the Jamaica Tallawahs, and veteran batsman Mahela Jayawardene, who recently agreed to a deal with the Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel.

Meanwhile, the Barbados Tridents have also announced the signing of former Pakistan all-rounder Azhar Mahmood, who will replace Umar Akmal.

Akmal was ruled out for the rest of the tournament after fainting and suffering a suspected seizure.
